Welcome to Seekr Daily (“we,” “us,” or “our”), accessible at https://seekrdaily.com. Seekr Daily is an interactive web-based daily deduction game celebrating the history of the World Wide Web.

2. What Data We Collect & How We Use It

We believe in radical data minimization. You do not need an account to play Seekr Daily. We collect only what is strictly necessary to run the game and maintain your play record:

A. Strictly Necessary Gameplay Data (Client-Side Terminal Storage)

Stored directly on your device via HTML5 localStorage. This includes your daily letter guesses, strike counters (up to 6 allowed), current win streak, max streak, career guess distribution, and sound preference. This data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly connect a Seekr Club account.

B. Seekr Club Account & Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you voluntarily join the Seekr Club using Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication processes your Google Account identifier (UID), display name, email address, and profile photo. We store this in Cloud Firestore alongside your gameplay stats to enable cross-device synchronization and optional daily leaderboard participation.

C. Technical & Diagnostic Logs

When accessing our website through Firebase Hosting (Google Cloud), standard HTTP request logs (IP address, browser user-agent, referring URL, timestamp) are temporarily recorded to ensure infrastructure security, mitigate Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, and enforce rate limits.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EU & UK GDPR Art. 6)

We process personal information under the following lawful bases:

  • Contractual Necessity (Art. 6(1)(b)): To deliver Seekr Club member services, maintain leaderboard rankings, and synchronize gameplay state across your authenticated devices.
  • Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): To maintain website security, prevent cheating, preserve the integrity of daily challenges, and debug technical glitches.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)): For optional performance telemetry, analytical diagnostic cookies, and opt-in pilot survey feedback.

4. California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA Notice)

“Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”

We do NOT sell your personal data. We do NOT share your personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising. We have not sold or shared consumer personal information in the preceding 12 months.

California residents possess specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the CPRA:

  • Right to Know / Access: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected.
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal data collected, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will never discriminate, alter game mechanics, or deny services based on exercising your privacy rights.

5. Your GDPR Rights & How to Exercise Them

Under European data protection laws, you possess the right of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21).

Immediate Self-Service Erasure:

You can immediately wipe all local gameplay stats and session data by clicking “Reset Stats” inside the in-game Stats modal. If you registered a Seekr Club account, you can permanently delete your entire Firebase profile and cloud history directly within the Seekr Club modal (“Delete Account”).

6. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

Seekr Daily is a general audience website guessing and word deduction game. It is not directed to children under 13 years of age (or under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under these ages. If you believe a child has provided personal information without parental consent, please contact us at hello@seekrdaily.com for immediate removal.

7. International Data Transfers & Third Parties

Seekr Daily infrastructure is hosted using Google Cloud Platform (Firebase) with data centers in the United States and Europe. Transfers of European personal data are governed by Google Cloud's Data Processing and Security Terms incorporating European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
